Einen richtigen Maskenball haben wir auf der Schmuckburg schon lange nicht mehr gefeiert. Ich erinnere mich an einige legendäre Nächte. Die besten Bälle fanden statt, als ich noch ganz klein war. Meine Mutter und meine Tanten haben mir oft davon erzählt. Diese Bälle dauerten nicht nur eine Nacht, nein, sie fingen am Donnerstagabend an und hörten erst Sonntagnacht auf. Die Gäste wohnten auf der Burg, es wurde jeden Tag gefeiert, jeder hatte verschiedene Masken und immer, wirklich immer, war man maskiert. Erst am Sonntag erschienen alle unmaskiert zum Tee und es galt, dass ab dann keiner mehr irgendetwas, was zwischen Donnerstagabend und Sonntagmittag geschehen war, erwähnte. Man sprach nur noch ganz allgemein von den Tagen zuvor. Keiner wusste dann mehr, wer wer war und wer wann wie verkleidet war. Alle Kostüme wurden diskret entfernt und man freute sich auf den nächsten Ball.
Eine besondere Rolle spielten die sagenumwobenen versteckten Zimmer. Die Legenden besagen, dass es mehrere versteckte Räume auf der Burg gibt, deren Lage nur jeweils einem Familienmitglied bekannt ist. Am meisten Geschichten winden sich um ein geheimes Boudoir, dass der schönste Raum der ganzen Burg sein soll.
Gesehen hat diesen Raum noch keiner von uns. Obwohl Stella und ich ihn sehr intensiv gesucht haben. Ich habe mehr Dinge auf der Suche nach dem Zimmer zerstört, als ich zugeben kann. Wenn man nicht weiss, wie sich eine Türe öffnet, probiert man halt alles aus. Und ich habe einfach gedrückt und gezogen, was ich konnte. Nicht alles hat überlebt. Irgendwann wurden wir dann zu alt für „Geheimraumsuchen“. Doch Masken haben wir noch mehr als genug auf der Burg.
Diese beiden Masken hat Stella vor ein paar Jahren herausgesucht und wir tragen sie jeweils im Set. Gleich zwei. Eine kleine Anspielung auf die Verwirrspiele der alten Bälle. Auch damals hatten die Damen (jeweils gewisse Damen) zwei Masken und wechselten so ihre Identität. Verwirrend. Spannend. Immer lustig.
Ich werde euch noch mehr davon erzählen, ganz sicher. Ich wünschte, wir würden wieder solche Bälle veranstalten.
